SUMMARY:2026 Sixty-Two Ridge
DESCRIPTION:Project Name:  Sixty-Two Ridge  \nProject Dates:   May 24-30  \nDeep in the beautiful Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness\, we'll work up the Sixty-Two Ridge Trail on a remote section of the Idaho Centennial Trail. We'll work on the switchbacks and beyond as it climbs above the Selway River. Gear will be packed into our backcountry camp along the Wild and Scenic Selway River. Starting from the Race Creek trailhead\, we'll hike about 12 miles to camp at Bar Creek on the Selway River Trail\, where we'll set up for the week. Each day\, we'll work higher up the ridge\, returning to camp each afternoon. At the end of the week\, pack stock will return to bring our gear back to camp.   \nThis section of the Selway is a great low-elevation\, early season trail\, very popular with hikers\, backpackers\, and equestrians. The Sixty-Two Ridge Trail climbs above the river\, connecting with several trails in the heart of the Selway- Bitterroot Wilderness. ITA worked on the switchbacks in 2025\, and this crew will continue to focus on improving the switchbacks that are beginning to slough off the hill\, as well as log out and brushing.  This crew's work will help support a Selway Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation Crew getting packed in later in the season.  This combined effort promises to make a big impact on this section of the ICT!   \nProject information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. Failure to respond to your crew leader may result in being dropped from the project. See our FAQs\, reach out to your crew leader\, or contact ITA staff at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org if you have questions.  \nTrails: Sixty-Two Ridge Trail #606  \nItinerary: This is a Sunday-Saturday weeklong project.  Meet at Race Creek Sunday morning to drop gear with packers and hike in. Welcome to car camp the evening before at the trailhead.  Monday-Friday\, working up Sixty-Two Ridge. Rest day as needed. Saturday pack stock returns to bring gear back to the trailhead.  \nFood Provided by ITA: No    \nGear Packing List: Gear Checklist for Backpacking Projects with Pack Support  \nCrew Leader: Clay Jacobson    \nEstimated Drive Time from Closest Town: 1 hour 15 min from Kooskia  \nTrail Map:  Click for trail map and elevation profile for the Hike to Camp and the Sixtytwo Ridge Trail   \nRefundable deposit: $50   \nWhy do I need to pay a deposit? We've had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. By charging a refundable fee\, volunteers are less likely to cancel their reservation. Refunds will not be given to volunteers that do not show up or cancel their reservation. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances. Volunteers can choose to donate the deposit to ITA. All donations are tax-deductible and will go towards maintaining trails throughout Idaho. If you require assistance in paying for this fee\, please contact us at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org and we will waive the cost.   \nDifficulty Rating  \nYou should have experience with backpacking and be in good hiking condition with broken-in and tested gear.  This is a remote backcountry project\, so injuries such as sprains and blisters or even extreme fatigue from not being properly conditioned can quickly become a big safety issue.  If you are unsure about the proper gear or about preparing for a trip\, please reach out to trails@idahotrailsassociation.org.   \nHike: 4/5 Strenuous – 12 miles into camp along the Selway River trail which has lots of ups and downs but not a lot of total elevation gain. Carrying day packs\, maybe some tools into camp. From camp\, Sixty-Two Ridge switchbacks steeply up the hill before leveling out along the ridge. See the linked maps for the elevation profile.  \nProject Work: 4/5 Strenuous – Focus on tread work\, with increasing climbs to work each day. Improving switchbacks\, digging\, and swinging tools. Some log out and brushing. The weather in May can be unpredictable\, so please pack accordingly!  \nVolunteer Spots Available: 100 of 100\nIf there are no volunteer spots available\, click “Sign Up” to get on our waitlist for this project! \nWaitlist Signups: 0 \nSign Up×Sign UpOops! SUMMARY:2026 Selway River - Paradise
DESCRIPTION:Project Name: Selway River – Paradise  \nProject Dates: May 29-31  \nThe Selway River Trail follows the Wild and Scenic Selway River as it flows through the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness. This is an important main line trail for hikers\, backpackers\, boaters\, and stock to access this pristine wilderness area. ITA has been asked to help open it up for the season! Meeting Thursday night\, we'll work one day from Paradise Campground (the put in for boaters launching on the Selway)\, working to clear logs and brush as needed as far downstream as we can. On Saturday\, we'll load up light overnight packs and backpack downstream to Running Creek\, about 7 miles in. We'll work the remainder of the day\, camp out overnight here and in the morning pack up and hike back to the trailhead\, finishing any tree clearing as we go. This section gets cleared of logs each year\, so we're expecting to finish this stretch in this short amount of time. Several more ITA projects will benefit from the work we do this weekend\, as pack stock will be on this trail to support projects all summer long.   \nBeginner-friendly backpacking\, easy elevation hike\, beautiful views of the Selway with a quick overnight camp out in the wilderness\, and some meaningful trail work. What's not to love?!  \nMore info about the Selway River Trail can be found in this ITA trail spotlight\, written by a past crew leader!  \nProject information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. SUMMARY:2026 Taylor Ranch - Youth
DESCRIPTION:Project Name: Taylor Ranch – Youth   \nDates: May 31 – June 6  \nITA's Youth Trail Crew Program provides opportunities for youth ages 14-18 to learn about the outdoors while building and maintaining hiking trails in a safe\, teamwork-oriented environment.  \nThis advanced backcountry project is designed for returning youth crew members who are ready for a fully immersive experience in Idaho's largest wilderness. Participants will fly into Taylor Ranch and work down creek\, traveling deep into the Frank Church–River of No Return Wilderness. The week combines extended backpacking\, remote living\, and hands-on trail work\, offering a realistic look at what it takes to live and work in hard-to-access public lands.  \nThroughout the project\, participants will help maintain an essential corridor along Big Creek by completing brushing\, tread repair\, and slide removal. In addition to trail work\, the crew will connect with professionals working in a range of natural resource careers\, including trail and wilderness operations\, land management\, logistics\, and field-based science. Crew members will also share responsibility for all aspects of camp life\, including camp setup\, water and sanitation\, and tool management\, while building leadership\, communication\, and teamwork skills and practicing Leave No Trace and project safety expectations.   \nITA's youth projects are completely free for volunteers to join\, and all food is provided. Gear can be borrowed from ITA if needed with advance notice\, or youth may apply for scholarships to purchase gear they need through the Splattski Outdoor Access Fund.   \nProject information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. Failure to respond to your crew leader may result in being dropped from the project. See ourFAQs\, reach out to your crew leader\, or contact ITA staff at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org if you have questions.  \nTrails: Big Creek Trail #196\, others from Big Creek TBD  \nItinerary: This is a Sunday-Saturday weeklong project. Volunteers and a parent/guardian will join a pre-trip Zoom meeting before the project. Meet in McCall early Saturday morning and fly into Taylor Ranch. Backpacking and working towards the Middle Fork. Hike back to Cabin Creek with a stop at Taylor Ranch for an early flight back to McCall Saturday Morning.  \nFood Provided by ITA: Yes – Backpacking   \nGear Packing List: Gear Checklist for Backpacking Projects  \nCrew Leader: Taylor Mailly and Barry Miller   \nEstimated Drive Time from Closest Town: Flying out of McCall   \nTrail Map: Click for trail map and elevation profile  \nYouth Trip Selection:   \nYouth trip sign-ups will be open until March 22nd. Although early sign-ups will be prioritized\, ITA leadership and staff may adjust the final crews to maximize trip experience and provide opportunities for the greatest number of youth participants. To help facilitate trip assignments\, please sign up for your preferred trip and include alternate trips you could participate in\, should the preferred trip not be available. You will receive notification of trip assignment via email prior to March 31st. \nHike: 4/5 Strenuous – Carrying all personal gear\, food\, and tools. The Big Creek Trail has ups and downs as it follows the creek but with no major elevation gain or loss. Depending on work\, the crew may work up the ridge trails which climb steeply out of the creek into the surrounding mountains.   \nProject Work: 4/5 Strenuous – This project will be removing logs\, cutting brush\, removing rocks and sloughs and overall improving the trail tread\, potentially moving large amounts of earth to fix slides. This is ponderosa pine/Douglas fir country so the trees may be big and complex.   \nVolunteer Spots Available: 100 of 100\nIf there are no volunteer spots available\, click “Sign Up” to get on our waitlist for this project! \nWaitlist Signups: 0 \nSign Up×Sign UpOops! SUMMARY:2026 Lochsa Peak
DESCRIPTION:Project Name:  Lochsa Peak  \nProject Dates:   June 5-7  \nVolunteers will spend the weekend working out of Wilderness Gateway\, just off winding Highway 12 and the Wild and Scenic Lochsa River. This is a popular access point to the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness\, and we'll work on the Lochsa Peak Trail. This section is part of the Idaho Centennial Trail\, but instead of thru-hiking\, we'll enjoy the luxuries of camping in an established campsite.  \nWe'll begin at the Wilderness Gateway Trailhead and work up Lochsa Peak as far as we can. The trail travels through a beautiful\, shaded forest with a mix of switchbacks and long\, straight sections. While the climb is fairly steady\, it's mostly shaded. The area receives enough rainfall to support dense undergrowth and plenty of wildflowers where the forest opens up.  Occasional breaks in the trees offer sweeping views of the surrounding area!  \nCheck out this ITA Trail Spotlight about this trail!  \nProject information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. Failure to respond to your crew leader may result in being dropped from the project. See our FAQs\, reach out to your crew leader\, or contact ITA staff at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org if you have questions.  \nTrails: Lochsa Peak Trail #220  \nItinerary: This is a weekend project.  Welcome to camp with the crew leader starting Friday night\, and car camping near the trailhead for the entirety of the project.  Working all day on Saturday. Wrapping up any work Sunday morning\, heading home early afternoon.   \nFood Provided by ITA: No    \nGear Packing List: Gear Checklist for Car Camping\, Bring Your Own Food    \nCrew Leader: Clay Jacobson   \nEstimated Drive Time from Closest Town: 1 hour from Kooskia  \nTrail Map:  Click for trail map and elevation profile   \nRefundable deposit: $25  \nWhy do I need to pay a deposit? \nDifficulty Rating  \nHike: 4/5 Strenuous – Closer to a 3.5 but rounded up as the trails get steep fast out of Wilderness Gateway! 2\,500 feet elevation gain over three miles.  Switchbacks\, with some longer straight sections to rest.  Carrying day packs and tools. See the linked map for the elevation profile.  \nProject Work: 3/5 Moderately Strenuous – This trail gets some regular maintenance due to its proximity to a busy Wilderness access point\, so work will depend on conditions after the winter. Saw work and log out expected with some brushing\, some digging/swinging tools for tread work.   \nVolunteer Spots Available: 100 of 100\nIf there are no volunteer spots available\, click “Sign Up” to get on our waitlist for this project! \nWaitlist Signups: 0 \nSign Up×Sign UpOops! SUMMARY:2026 Canfield Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Project Name:  Canfield Mountain \nProject Dates: June 6 \nJoin us in celebrating National Trails Day with a collaborative trail stewardship project at Canfield Mountain\, one of Coeur d’Alene’s most accessible and well-loved trail systems. In partnership with NRTP\, LCTA\, and PANTRA\, volunteers will work on Trail 10 to improve trail conditions\, enhance drainage\, and maintain the corridor for all users. \nTrail 10 is a moderately challenging 4.6-mile route that winds through a forested landscape popular with hikers\, mountain bikers\, and trail runners. With heavy use and seasonal runoff\, sections of the trail can become rutted\, muddy\, and prone to erosion\, making ongoing maintenance essential to keep it safe and sustainable. \nNo prior trail experience is necessary — volunteers of all skill levels are welcome\, and all tools and instruction will be provided. This is a great opportunity to give back to your local trails\, connect with the outdoor community\, and be part of a larger effort to care for the places we all love. \nMore information on Alltrails \nProject information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. Failure to respond to your crew leader may result in being dropped from the project. See our FAQs\, reach out to your crew leader\, or contact ITA staff at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org if you have questions.  \nTrails: Idaho Panhandle Trail #10 \nItinerary: This is a one day project. SUMMARY:2026 Ditch Creek
DESCRIPTION:Project Name:  Ditch Creek  \nProject Dates:   June 7-13  \nDeep in the beautiful Selway Bitterroot Wilderness\, we'll work up the Ditch Creek Trail to the Moose Ridge Trail\, one of the most remote sections of the Idaho Centennial Trail. We'll fly from McCall into Shearer\, a backcountry airstrip along the Selway River. The trail may be clear from earlier season's efforts\, but the crew may need to camp at Shearer and work up Ditch Creek for a day to ensure the trail is passable to stock.  Once clear\, 51 Ranch Outfitters will provide pack support to move gear up to a base camp along Ditch Creek.  The crew will work up Shearer Ridge and Ditch Creek\, cutting out logs and clearing trails\, possibly moving camp once during the week depending on the number of down trees we find\, and then backpacking out to catch a flight home.   \nITA\, the Forest Service\, and Selway Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation have all put time into re-opening and maintaining this section of trail over the past several years\, and on this project we will re-clear and build on the work completed last year. This project will also ensure that pack support from 51 Ranch will be available to the next ITA crew the following week\, who will be packed further up to work on the Moose Ridge Trail\, which is part of the ICT. Between the two projects\, ITA will make a big impact on trails in this incredible area!  \nProject information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. Failure to respond to your crew leader may result in being dropped from the project. See our FAQs\, reach out to your crew leader\, or contact ITA staff at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org if you have questions.  \nTrails: Ditch Creek Trail #523\, Shearer Ridge #547  \nItinerary: This is a Sunday-Saturday weeklong project. Fly out of McCall early Sunday morning. Possible to camp at Shearer for a day\, then work with the outfitter/packer to move camp up the trail 5 miles. Friday\, hike back to Shearer to prepare for a Saturday morning flight back to McCall.  \nFood Provided by ITA: No    \nGear Packing List: Gear Checklist for Backpacking Projects with Pack Support \nCrew Leader: Ray Arguello    \nEstimated Drive Time from Closest Town: Flying out of McCall  \nTrail Map:  Click for trail map and elevation profile   \nRefundable deposit: $50   \nWhy do I need to pay a deposit? This is a remote backcountry project so injuries such as sprains and blisters or even extreme fatigue from not being properly conditioned can quickly become a big safety issue.  If you are unsure about the proper gear or about preparing for a trip\, please reach out to trails@idahotrailsassociation.org.   \nHike: 4/5 Strenuous – 5 miles and 2000 feet of elevation gain to the first camp; trail follows along the creek. But after the first camp location\, Shearer Ridge hosts a mile of switchbacks to climb up to the ridge.  See the linked map for the elevation profile.  \nProject Work: 4/5 Strenuous – Lots of saw work\, brushing\, and some tread work. The trail was cleared last year\, and we'll re-clear and push forward!   \nVolunteer Spots Available: 100 of 100\nIf there are no volunteer spots available\, click “Sign Up” to get on our waitlist for this project! \nWaitlist Signups: 0 \nSign Up×Sign UpOops! SUMMARY:2026 Selway River South
DESCRIPTION:Project Name: Selway River South  \nProject Dates: June 10-14  \nCome enjoy a backcountry adventure along the headwaters of the Selway River! Starting at the Historic Magruder Ranger Station\, we'll backpack south from here\, cutting out logs as we go in a "cut and run" style project. This means more emphasis on log out and opening the trail as far as possible vs focusing on brushing and tread work. This trail is an important access point to the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness\, popular with day hikers and backpackers exploring the Magruder Corridor and an important connecting trail for hunters and outfitters.  \nOn the first night\, we will backpack to Upper Crossing (about 5 miles in) and as work allows bump camp further during the week. There are some great backcountry campsites all along the headwaters of the Wild and Scenic Selway River\, with a chance to cover up to 12 miles. The goal is to cover as much trail as possible during this project.   \nProject information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. SUMMARY:2026 Trapper Creek - Youth
DESCRIPTION:Project Name: Trapper Creek – Youth \nDates: June 11 – June 14 \nITA’s Youth Trail Crew Program provides opportunities for youth ages 14-18 to learn about the outdoors while building and maintaining hiking trails in a safe\, teamwork-oriented environment. \nThis four-day project will be ITA’s only boat-in youth project in north Idaho. Participants will travel by boat to Trapper Creek Campsite on the northeast end of Upper Priest Lake and camp right along the shoreline. The campsite offers beautiful lake views\, a sandy beach\, and opportunities for swimming and fishing after workdays. From camp\, the crew will work on a three-mile section of trail heading north toward the road on a route that has not been maintained in some time and will likely require extensive brushing. \nThe Trapper Creek Trail is an important connector that completes a full loop around Upper Priest Lake by linking to the Navigation Trail. It is also part of the Idaho Centennial Trail (ICT)\, a nearly 1\,000-mile route spanning the state that ITA helps maintain. SUMMARY:2026 Little Elk - Women in the Wild
DESCRIPTION:Project Name:  Little Elk – Women in the Wild  \nProject Dates:  June 12-14  \nITA's Women in the Wild trail projects are designed to create a supportive\, empowering\, and fun environment where women can learn new skills\, build confidence\, and connect with others who share a love for the outdoors. These all-female trail crews provide a unique space for volunteers to work together\, gain hands-on experience in trail maintenance\, and make a lasting impact on Idaho's public lands.  \nJoin us for a Women in the Wild project at Magee Cabin in the Coeur d'Alene Ranger District\, a serene\, wooded area perfect for a weekend of outdoor stewardship. ITA volunteers will focus on clearing brush\, fallen logs\, and other trail obstacles to keep the nearby trails safe\, accessible\, and enjoyable for all. This women-only event creates a supportive and empowering atmosphere\, allowing participants to work side by side while connecting with nature and fellow women trail stewards.  \n We'll enjoy the beauty of the forested surroundings\, take in the peaceful cabin setting\, and share camaraderie around trail work and the outdoors. This is a meaningful opportunity for women to get outside\, give back to local trails\, and make a lasting impact on the environment.  \nProject information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. SUMMARY:2026 Moose Ridge
DESCRIPTION:Project Name:  Moose Ridge  \nProject Dates:   June 13-19  \nA backcountry adventure in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness will bring the crew high above the Selway River to work on the Moose Ridge Trail\, one of the most remote sections of the Idaho Centennial Trail. We'll fly from McCall into Shearer\, a backcountry airstrip along the Selway River.  51 Ranch Outfitters will provide pack support to move gear up to a base camp. From here the crew will work on clearing the Moose Ridge Trail\, working north and south from base camp as time allows. Finally\, the crew will backpack back to the river\, before getting picked up and flown back to civilization on the last day!   \nThis section of the ICT may be some of the toughest for hikers to navigate on the whole 1000-mile trail because of downed trees and thick brush after 2017 wildfires burned much of the area. Opening this section is not just a benefit for long-distance hikers (who greatly appreciate our efforts)\, but these trails would be used by horse packers\, hunters\, and backpackers once clear! ITA\, the Forest Service\, and Selway Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation have all put time into re-opening and maintaining this section of trail over the last several years.  This project immediately follows the ITA Ditch Creek project\, where that crew will help ensure the trail is open for us to get to camp! Between the two projects\, ITA will make a big impact on one of the most overgrown sections of the ICT!  \nProject information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. Failure to respond to your crew leader may result in being dropped from the project. See our FAQs\, reach out to your crew leader\, or contact ITA staff at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org if you have questions.  \nTrails: Moose Ridge #562  \nItinerary: This is a Saturday to Friday weeklong project. Fly out of McCall early Saturday morning. Packed up to base camp for the week.  On Thursday\, backpack back to Shearer to prepare for a Friday morning flight back to McCall.  \nFood Provided by ITA: No – This project is eligible for backpacking food per diem.  More information here     \nGear Packing List: Gear Checklist for Backpacking Projects with Pack Support \nCrew Leader: Clay Jacobson    \nEstimated Drive Time from Closest Town: Flying out of McCall\, Idaho  \nTrail Map:  Click for trail map and elevation profile   \nRefundable deposit: $50   \nWhy do I need to pay a deposit? We've had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. If you require assistance in paying for this fee\, please contact us at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org and we will waive the cost.   \nDifficulty Rating  \nYou should have experience with backpacking and be in good hiking condition with broken-in and tested gear.  This is a remote backcountry project so injuries such as sprains and blisters or even extreme fatigue from not being properly conditioned can quickly become a big safety issue.  If you are unsure about the proper gear or about preparing for a trip\, please reach out to trails@idahotrailsassociation.org.   \nHike: 5/5 Very Strenuous – Pack supported up to camp\, about an 8-mile hike.  It climbs gradually for the first 5 miles along Ditch creek\, then switchbacks steeply up to the ridge for 1 mile. Finally\, the trail climbs along the ridge to base camp. Carrying day packs and some tools. See the linked map for the elevation profile.  \nProject Work: 4/5 Strenuous – Lots of saw work\, brushing\, and some tread work\, working north and south as time/downed trees allow.   \nVolunteer Spots Available: 100 of 100\nIf there are no volunteer spots available\, click “Sign Up” to get on our waitlist for this project! \nWaitlist Signups: 0 \nSign Up×Sign UpOops! SUMMARY:2026 Queens - Youth
DESCRIPTION:Project Name: Queens River – Youth  \nDates: June 17 – 21   \nITA's Youth Trail Crew Program provides opportunities for youth ages 14-18 to learn about the outdoors while building and maintaining hiking trails in a safe\, teamwork-oriented environment.  \nThis season in the Sawtooth Wilderness\, ITA will host a youth trail work project focused on improving access along the Little Queens and Queens River Trails. The crew will be based at the Queens River Trailhead\, camping beneath rugged granite peaks and dense forest\, with the river close by and sweeping Sawtooth views in every direction. Each day\, participants will head out to work on trail and return to camp in the evenings to relax\, share meals\, and take in one of Idaho's most scenic and remote landscapes.  \nTrail work will primarily involve cutting out downed logs and restoring passability along these routes- work that is both physically demanding and deeply rewarding. There is always more to clear in this area\, and the crew will contribute to a multi-year effort to reopen the full Queens River loop\, with additional ITA crews continuing later in the season. With guidance from crew leaders\, youth will also take part in daily camp life\, including meal setup and cleanup\, supporting the volunteer cook\, managing water and sanitation\, and accounting for tools. Volunteers will learn and follow Leave No Trace principles and project safety expectations while building practical skills\, teamwork\, and confidence in a true wilderness setting. SUMMARY:2026 Thompson Pass
DESCRIPTION:Project Name:  Thompson Pass  \nProject Dates:  June 20-21 \nJoin us for a weekend trail restoration project on the historic Raven Gulch and Barton Creek trails in the Coeur d'Alene Ranger District near Thompson Pass\, on the Idaho–Montana border. These trails were identified by crew leaders as long-forgotten routes that have not received Forest Service maintenance in many years. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)\, they represent an important piece of trail history and craftsmanship that deserves to be preserved.  \nVolunteers will spend the weekend clearing brush\, removing fallen trees\, and restoring sections of trail corridor to help reclaim these historic paths before they are lost to time. We'll be car camping at the trailhead\, enjoying the surrounding wilderness while connecting with fellow trail stewards. This project is a unique opportunity to explore a rarely visited area\, learn about the legacy of CCC trail building\, and play a direct role in protecting an important part of our public lands heritage. No prior trail experience is necessary — all tools and instruction will be provided\, and volunteers of all skill levels are welcome.  \nProject information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. See our FAQs\, reach out to your crew leader\, or contact ITA staff at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org if you have questions.  \nTrails: Middle Fork Trail #001  \nItinerary: This is a Sunday-Saturday weeklong project. On Sunday\, fly out of McCall. Working all week\, bumping camp\, mid-week with pack support. Friday afternoon\, return to camp near the airstrip for Saturday morning pickup and fly back to McCall.   \nFood Provided by ITA: No – This project is eligible for backpacking food per diem.  More information here    \nGear Packing List: Gear Checklist for Backpacking Projects with Pack Support  \nCrew Leader: Dagmar Rapp and James Grantham    \nEstimated Drive Time from Closest Town: Flying out of McCall  \nTrail Map: Click for trail map and elevation profile   \nRefundable deposit: $50   \nWhy do I need to pay a deposit? We've had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute\, which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. By charging a refundable fee\, volunteers are less likely to cancel their reservations. \nHike: 3/5 Moderately Strenuous –  The trail follows the river the whole time\, with some steeper sections and ups and downs\, but overall\, very little elevation gain. Camp TBD but estimated 5-7 miles from Pistol Creek and up to a total of 11 miles; depending on trail conditions and crew progress. Lots of hiking carrying personal gear and tools\, with some pack support. See the linked map for the elevation profile.  \nProject Work: 4/5 Strenuous – Lots of brushing and tread work\, digging and swinging tools\, improving creek crossings. Hikes into the project area longer each day as we work further out from camp. Carrying day packs and tools.   \nVolunteer Spots Available: 100 of 100\nIf there are no volunteer spots available\, click “Sign Up” to get on our waitlist for this project! \nWaitlist Signups: 0 \nSign Up×Sign UpOops!
