In partnership with the Great Burn Conservation Alliance, volunteers will gather for a week of trail work in this proposed wilderness. North of Highway 12 along the Montana border, where the famous 1910 fires burned. This trail follows Kelly Creek to our base camp in Hanson Meadows, and from here we will work on sections of the Idaho Centennial Trail. This is a fully supported trip and we’ll have pack stock to assist bringing in gear and food. Members of the Great Burn Conservation Alliance will be there to teach us more about this incredible area, known for its rich history and abundant wildlife- and awesome fishing!
Trail: Kelly Creek Trail #567, Hanson Ridge Trail #428
Itinerary: Sunday morning meet at Kelly Creek Trailhead. Pack into camp at Hanson Meadows and set up base camp. Monday – Friday, trail work, return to camp each evening. Half or full day off mid-week to relax or explore. Saturday, pack up and hike back to the trailhead and drive home.

Estimated Drive Time from Closest Town: 2 hours 15 minutes from Pierce
GAIA Map: Trailhead to Hanson Meadows
Non-refundable trail project fee: $50
Why do I need to pay a fee to volunteer for this trip? The fees collected will help to cover the costs of providing food and other expenses related to planning a multi-day project in the backcountry. We’ve had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. By charging a fee, volunteers are less likely to cancel their reservation. Refunds will not be given to volunteers that do not show up or cancel their reservation. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances. If you require assistance in paying for this fee, please contact us at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org and we will waive the cost.
