We’ll clear trail #312 from the Hughes Meadows Road up the Hughes Fork Trail to the top of the ridge. It has been many years since this trail has been logged out, so we’ll get to do lots of crosscut work as we travel up the valley into the Salmo-Priest Wilderness. This will be a fully supported 5-day project with a great cook and local horse packers.
Trail: Hughes Fork Trail #312
Itinerary: The crew leader will specify meeting time & place for Friday morning (welcome to camp there Thursday night!). Packed into camp Friday, clearing as we go. Saturday – Monday, keep working up the trail, return to base camp each evening. Tuesday, packed back to the trailhead and head home.
Crew Leader: Alex Cravener
More Information: WTA Trip Report
Estimated Drive Time from Closest Town: About 45 minutes from Nordman, Idaho
Non-refundable trail project fee: $50
Why do I need to pay a fee to volunteer for this trip? The fees collected will help to cover the costs of providing food and other expenses related to planning a multi-day project in the backcountry. We’ve had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. By charging a fee, volunteers are less likely to cancel their reservation. Refunds will not be given to volunteers that do not show up or cancel their reservation. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances. If you require assistance in paying for this fee, please contact us at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org and we will waive the cost.
