Volunteer Trail Work Project

Loading Events

Join us for a week along the beautiful Little North Fork of the Clearwater. We’ll be staying at a car camp at the end of the road and hiking the trail each day as we work up the river. The trail starts at about 3,600 feet elevation and goes many miles up the beautiful valley.  This is a fully supported trip and we will be joined be a volunteer camp cook to help prepare meals!

Trail: Little North Fork Clearwater River Trail #50

Itinerary:  Meet at camp Sunday afternoon to set up camp and over trail work and safety talks. Work Monday-Friday. Pick up Saturday morning and home!

Crew Leader: Gregg Rettschlag

More Information:  Forest Service Page

Estimated Drive Time from Closest Town:  About 1 hour from Avery, Idaho

GAIA Map:  Little North Fork Clearwater

Non-refundable trail project fee: $50

Why do I need to pay a fee to volunteer for this trip? The fees collected will help to cover the costs of providing food and other expenses related to planning a multi-day project in the backcountry. We’ve had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. By charging a fee, volunteers are less likely to cancel their reservation. Refunds will not be given to volunteers that do not show up or cancel their reservation. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances. If you require assistance in paying for this fee, please contact us at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org and we will waive the cost.

Difficulty Rating

Work will include cutting out logs, removing brush, and repairing tread. Potential for repeated digging or sawing. Carrying tools and packs up to five miles each day.
