On the Idaho/Montana border, ITA volunteers will work their way up toward Nez Perce Peak (7,356ft). We will car camp together just below the pass, taking in the panoramic views of the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness to the north and the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness to the south.   

Trail:  Divide North Trail #16.1, Nez Perce Indian Trail #13 

Itinerary: Friday – Plan for a drive day, a project is far! Friday evening meet at Fales Flat Campground.  Saturday – Drive up to Nez Perce Peak (approx. 5 miles from camp) for a full day of trail work, returning to camp for the evening. Sunday – Trail work in the morning, wrap up early afternoon to allow for drive time home.

Hike: 3/5 Moderately Strenuous
To the peak is 5.5 miles with 1,500 feet of elevation gain.  The number of downed trees will determine how far up the crew gets.  See the linked map for the elevation profile.

Project Work: 3/5 Moderately Strenuous
Repeated digging or sawing. Carrying tools and packs up to five miles each day.
