Volunteer Trail Work Project

Join us for National Public Lands Day in the Little Jacks Creek Wilderness Area! Volunteers will spend a day working on the trailhead at Purjue Canyon Trail. Volunteers will assist Bureau of Land Management personnel on improvements to the parking area, fencing and a foot bridge.  ITA has been working on the Purjue Canyon Trail for several years and it’s a great chance to explore the Owyhee Uplands Backcountry Byway.

Trail: Purjue Canyon Trail or Roberson West Trail

Itinerary: Meet at the trailhead in the morning, work until early afternoon. Return home. Optional group hike up Purjue Canyon!

Crew Leader: Greg Hart

Estimated Drive Time from Closest Town:  About 45 min from Grandview

Difficulty Rating

Hike: 1/5 Easy
Project work at the trailhead.  If we switch to the Roberson West project, it’s a more strenuous but short hike down into the Bruneau River Canyon.

Project Work: 3/5 Moderately Strenuous
Variety of project work could have volunteers digging, swinging tools, with the potential for some heavy lifting. Volunteers can pick trail duties based in comfort and ability level and are encouraged to work at their own pace.
