Project Name: Lead Draw Final
Date: September 27
ITA is partnering with the Caribou Targhee National Forest on their Lead Draw Recreation Project. Over three one-day projects in 2025, ITA will help enhance the recreational experience for all visitors to the Lead Draw area by installing recreational infrastructure, adding trailhead signage, and rerouting trail.
On the final day of the Lead Draw Project, ITA will continue working toward completing the Lead Draw reroute with possible cattle crossings installation. We’ll be working with other volunteer groups and following a “trail cat” machine that will punch in the trail outline. Volunteers will help clean it up and ensure proper slope and drainage.
The Lead Draw area, located within the Mink Creek watershed, is a popular recreational destination that attracts a significant number of visitors throughout the year. The Lead Draw trailhead gives access to several trails and users include hikers, motorcyclists, cyclists, e-bike riders, horseback riders, skiers, and snowshoers.
This project also takes place on National Public Lands Day, the country’s largest single-day volunteer event for public lands. Since its inception in 1994, NPLD has brought together hundreds of thousands of volunteers to help restore and preserve America’s public lands. Join us for one of ITA’s many statewide projects to celebrate this day!
