Project Name: Stateline Trail

Project Dates: August 2-3

ITA’s Veterans Program provides a supportive environment where active duty and retired ser-vice members can engage in mission-focused public land stewardship. This program offers veterans the opportunity to learn valuable trail maintenance skills while finding camaraderie with fellow veterans who share a love for the outdoors.

Nestled in the heart of the Coeur d’Alene Mountains along the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River, the Stateline Trail stretches from Lost Creek Campground to the Montana border. We’ll be car camping at Lost Creek Dispersed Campground, which has a toilet, while clearing logs along this beautiful ridge trail up to Taylor Saddle. The trail was recently maintained by the Forest Service, ensuring regular upkeep. On day one, we’ll drive to the top of the mountain, work our way down, and shuttle back to camp in the evening. On day two, we’ll hike up from the campground, finishing what we can before hiking back to our cars and heading home.

Project information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. Failure to respond to your crew leader may result in being dropped from the project. See our FAQs, reach out to your crew leader, or contact ITA staff at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org if you have questions.

Trails: Stateline Trail #502

Itinerary: This is a weekend project. The crew leader will specify the meeting time & place in their pre-trip emails. We encourage camping Friday night at Lost Creek Campground to get an early start Saturday. We will begin trail work Saturday morning and finish Sunday afternoon.

Food Provided by ITA: No

Crew Leader: Jim Manning

Estimated Drive Time from Closest Town: 50 minutes from Wallace

Trail Map: Click for trail map and elevation profile

Refundable deposit: $25

Why do I need to pay a deposit? We’ve had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. By charging a refundable fee, volunteers are less likely to cancel their reservation. Refunds will not be given to volunteers that do not show up or cancel their reservation. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances. Volunteers can choose to donate the deposit to ITA. All donations are tax-deductible and will go towards maintaining trails throughout Idaho. If you require assistance in paying for this fee, please contact us at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org and we will waive the cost.
