Update – The project date has been postponed from November 19th to December 3rd.
Last fall ITA volunteers collected over a million sagebrush seeds during our Military Reserve Seed collection project in collaboration with Ridge to Rivers! This spring, we planted new sagebrush in Military reserve, and this fall we’ll continue to collect seeds!
Seeds are collected to help regrow plants in areas where land has been disturbed and the native flora has been damaged or destroyed. Sagebrush seed is the focus of this effort because the shrub is an important winter food source for mule deer. The native shrub also provides food and cover benefits for a variety of other wildlife, and like other deep-rooted plants, sagebrush helps stabilize soils, reducing erosion. Join us for a fun fall project in the Boise Foothills!
Difficulty Rating: 1 – Easy: Trail work is performed near or a short distance from a trailhead. Work is typically performed with a larger group. Minimal gear may be carried.
