This project will drop the crew off at the remote Cabin Creek airstrip for a week of backpacking and trail work along Big Creek in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. Make sure to read up on the area’s rich history before you go. The crew will split into two groups to head opposite ways down the Big Creek Trail. One crew will hike about 11.5 miles to Monumental Creek and the other will hike about 12.5 miles to the confluence with the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. Crews will spend the week working back towards Cabin Creek, clearing and brushing the trail. The crew will meet back on Friday afternoon and spend Saturday relaxing at the Forest Service cabin located at the airstrip and exploring this beautiful, historic area before flying back to McCall Sunday.

Refundable deposit: $50
Why do I need to pay a deposit? We’ve had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. Refunds will not be given to volunteers that do not show up or cancel their reservation. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances. Volunteers can choose to donate the deposit to ITA. All donations are tax-deductible and will go towards maintaining trails throughout Idaho. If you need assistance paying the project fee, please contact us and we will waive the fee.
