UPDATE 5/31 – As you may be aware, Cherry Springs has recently received a great deal of upgrades, and as a result, there is not much work to be done there. So we have decided to move the work site to Pioneer Ridge Trail. Never heard of it? That’s because it doesn’t exist yet, and that’s where we come in.
This project will entail creating about 1/8 mile of trail to connect the trailhead to an already established trail on the east bench of Pocatello. This will allow access from city property to BLM land, and will greatly expand recreation opportunities on the east side of town. The work will involve creating tread using hand tools, and cutting some brush. It will be fairly easy work, in close proximity to our cars. We are working together with the city of Pocatello on this project.
We will meet at 9 AM June 4th at the “trailhead”, which is a small parking area located at 8542 West Pocatello Creek Road. To get there, drive east on Pocatello Creek Road, about 1/4 mile past Parks road. It will be on the left (north) side of the road.”
Difficulty Rating: 1 – Easy: Trail work is performed near or a short distance from a trailhead. Work is typically performed with a larger group. Minimal gear may be carried.
Estimated Drive Time to Meeting Spot: 15 minutes from Pocatello
