This weeklong backpacking trip is a chance to explore everything the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness has to offer. Youth volunteers will fly into the Shearer airstrip on the Selway River. From there we will backpack three miles to our first camp. Trail work will include clearing logs off the trail and improving the tread we go. We’ll work up Goat Ridge trail toward Wylie Peak. We will work Monday through Thursday, and hike back to have a day off at the Selway River before flying back to McCall. ITA will provide backpacking meals but youth volunteers will be carrying all their gear. Come explore an incredible Wilderness area and hone your backpacking skills!

Difficulty Rating: 3 – Difficult: Hike long distances from a trailhead with elevation gain– This is a week-long overnight backpacking trip. Support of an outfitter or pack assistance is not available. Previous backpacking experience is highly recommended!
