In the fabulous Pioneer Mountains, join us on a youth weekend project where we’re teaming up with the Wood River Trails Coalition to tackle the loop to Pioneer Cabin. Food will be provided by ITA and prepared by a volunteer cook. We’ll meet at the Hyndman Trailhead where we’ll car camp for the weekend. We will work on trail maintenance up as far as we can go, including logging out and brushing. The trail meanders up the basin in-and-out of forested areas and open sagebrush terrain. In the open areas, you’ll get peeks of peaks such as Duncan’s Ridge, Handwerk Peak, and Goat Mountain. As the trail starts a more serious climb up the hill below Pioneer Cabin, the views again open up of the high mountains. Come join us for a weekend in the mountains!
Difficulty Rating: 2 – Moderate: Day trip trail work is performed a medium distance from the trailhead with elevation gain. Volunteers will carry a daypack and tools.
Estimated Drive Time to Meeting Spot: 45 min north-east of Hailey, Idaho
Road Considerations: The road to the trailhead takes you past the historic mining town of Triumph. Shortly after, the road turns to good gravel, and eventually to a one or two mile one-lane dirt road that is a little rough, but passable in a passenger sedan.
