Volunteer Trail Work Project

Loading Events

Join us for a youth trip near beautiful Rapid River, a Wild and Scenic River in the Payette National Forest! Youth volunteers will backpack in from the Ants Basin trail head and hike four miles to Indian Springs. Pack stock will carry camping gear and food to our base camp and volunteers will need to carry their personal gear. The project will be hiking 1.5 miles to the Frypan Creek Trail where we will clear and rebuild tread where needed. The goal is to make it 3.5 miles to Rapid River. This will entail brushing, logging out and route finding. The trail is faint in several areas and the tread needs to be restabilized. The crew will return to camp each night where ITA volunteers will provide and prepare meals. Youth volunteers will take a rest day halfway through the week to relax and explore the area.

Difficulty Rating: 2 – Moderate: Day trip trail work is performed a medium distance from a trailhead. Volunteers will carry a daypack and tools to the work site. This is an overnight backpacking trip. Pack assistance is available, volunteers will carry in personal gear.
