Ten Mile Creek

Volunteer Trail Work Project

Loading Events

Come get away from it all with us on a week-long trip in the rugged Gospel Hump Wilderness! Volunteers will meet at the Ten Mile Trailhead for an early start Sunday morning where we’ll hike into camp, clearing trail as we go. Our base camp will be at Ten Mile Meadows, about seven miles in. From here we’ll work along the Ten Mile Creek trail, logging it out, brushing, and improving the tread as far as we can go. If we finish Ten Mile, we can clear up Ten Mile Spur trail towards Wildhorse Campground. The trail follows the creek the whole way, looking up at the Buffalo Hump peak this wilderness area is named for.

Difficulty Rating: 3 – Difficult: Hike medium to long distances from a trailhead – these are overnight backpacking trips. Support of an outfitter or pack assistance may/may not be available.

More Information: Forest Service Website

Estimated Drive Time to Meeting Spot: Estimated 1 hour from Elk City

Refundable deposit: $50

Why do I need to pay a deposit? We’ve had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. Refunds will not be given to volunteers that do not show up or cancel their reservation. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances. Volunteers can choose to donate the deposit to ITA. All donations are tax-deductible and will go towards maintaining trails throughout Idaho. If you need assistance paying the project fee, please contact us and we will waive the fee.
