See updated details below.\n \nFire Notice: We are aware there is a fire burning near the project area. We want to assure all volunteers that the crew will not be in danger. The U.S. Forest Service has given us the all clear to proceed and are monitoring the situation closely. Both the crew and ITA staff are in communication with them the whole time. Volunteer safety is always our top priority. \nProject Name:  Windy Bill  \nProject Dates:   August 9-15  \nIn partnership with the Great Burn Conservation Alliance (GBCA)\, volunteers will gather for a week of trail work near the Proposed Great Burn Wilderness. We'll work on the Scurvy Mountain Trail and the Windy Bill Trail\, focusing on logging out and cutting to clear the way. This section is part of the Idaho Centennial Trail\, and ITA is committed to maintaining sections of this 1\,000-mile trail each year. \nThis is now a backpacking project. Gear will be packed in to your first camp below Scurvy Mountain Lookout (uphill!)\, with wonderful views overlooking the Moose Mountains\, Cayuse and Kelly Creek drainages\, and Scurvy Lake. From base camp\, the crew will work on log out\, bumping camp further in as needed. \nProject information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. Camp the night before and meet at Kelly Creek Trailhead to carpool the last few miles on Sunday morning. When at the trailhead\, drop gear with packers and hike into camp. Work Monday-Friday\, logging out and cutting trail\, bumping camp as needed. On Saturday\, the crew will backpack out to the trailhead and return to their vehicles. \nFood Provided by ITA: No — volunteers bring their own food and will be reimbursed after the project via per diem.
