Do you remember a daily routine outside of pings, scrolling, and screens? Our Frank Church Immersion crew has returned from almost two weeks clearing trail spanning from the historic Chamberlain Guard Station to Dillinger Meadow, spending time in one of the most remote places in the lower 48. The crew of eight tackled a long term project to clear trails in the Hida Point area, bumping camp as needed along the way. The crew cleared a section of trail spanning from Dry Meadow to Dillinger Meadows area that hasn’t been worked in years, bringing back portions of a loop that ITA hopes to fully complete next year. As they worked cutting out 506 trees along the 10.7 miles in the sections most in need of some TLC, the crew spent evenings laughing (a lot), swapping recipe tips, and just soaking up the experience. Wrapping up with hot showers and an amazing meal at Stonebreaker Ranch on the last day of the hitch was the icing on a very sweet cake. Thanks to this amazing group of volunteers for their time and thoughtful efforts in this utterly unique corner of the world! – ITA Crew Leader Jess Evett
