There’s something powerful about trails. No matter who you are, where you come from, or how far you plan to go, a trail invites you in. Step by step, it connects us—to the land, to ourselves, and to one another. In a world that can feel divided and overwhelming, Idaho’s trails remind us of what we all share: a love for wild places, open space, and the freedom to explore.

We believe trails are meant to be experienced by everyone—and protected by all of us together. That’s why we bring together thousands of volunteers, supporters, and partners each year to keep Idaho’s hiking trails open and safe.

But today, Idaho’s trails need us more than ever. Cuts to federal recreation budgets and staffing mean that many trail systems may go untouched for the season. Without community support, miles of trails could quickly become overgrown, blocked, or lost. ITA is stepping up—but we cannot do it alone.

Our Annual Membership Drive happening during the month of December is your invitation to stand with us. When you join or renew your membership, you’re helping fund the tools, training, leadership, and year-round work that keep trails open. You’re empowering youth and women’s programs, supporting backcountry crews, and strengthening advocacy efforts that protect public access to Idaho’s wild places.

Most importantly, you’re choosing to be part of a community that believes in coming together when it matters most. Let’s unite for Idaho’s trails. Let’s keep them open, beautiful, and wild—today and for future generations.
