Volunteer Trail Work Project

2024 Big Bar Staff and Board

Loading Events

For this year’s annual staff and board trip, we will be camping at Big Bar Dispersed Camping area on the Snake River south of Hells Canyon Dam.  From here we’ll work on the trails that head up into the Payette National Forest to the east. The Allison Creek, Echols Creek, and Kinney Creek Trails offer several loop options for a great day hike from Big Bar. Used by climbers, hunters, and hikers, the thick brush and sections of hard-to-find trail make some sections difficult to navigate.  Higher up, the trail opens up to stunning views of Hells Canyon and the Snake River. ITA worked here in 2022 with BSU and plans to return later in the spring for a short youth trip.

Plan for shorter workdays than a normal trip with more time for discussion and idea sharing!

Trails:  Allison Creek #514, Echols Creek #223, and Kinney Creek #221

Itinerary: Welcome to camp with us starting Thursday evening. Or travel Friday am to be ready to begin trail work around noon. Work half day Saturday, with a half day of discussion, work full day Sunday and Monday.
