Volunteer Trail Work Project

2024 Taylor Basin (Full)

Loading Events

ITA and Teton Valley Trails and Pathways (TVTP) are partnering for a week of clearing trails in the Jedediah Smith Wilderness. We’ll meet at Moose Creek Trailhead, and pack support will help bring the crew and kitchen gear into Taylor Basin. We’ll base camp here under Taylor Mountain (elevation 10,341’), and work on several big blow down sections blocking the trails nearby with downed trees.

Just south of the Tetons, this is an incredible area known for its abundant wildlife and wildflowers. With breathtaking views of the Tetons, the rugged wilderness of eastern Wyoming, and a chance to collaborate with new like-minded folks from TVTP, this is not a project you want to skip.

Some of these trails are in rough shape, so receive less use despite being so close to civilization.  Once open, these trails offer endless backpacking loops or horseback riding options for those looking to explore the Jedediah Smith Wilderness!

Refundable deposit: $50

Why do I need to pay a deposit? We’ve had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. By charging a refundable fee, volunteers are less likely to cancel their reservation. Refunds will not be given to volunteers that do not show up or cancel their reservation. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances. Volunteers can choose to donate the deposit to ITA. All donations are tax-deductible and will go towards maintaining trails throughout Idaho. If you require assistance in paying for this fee, please contact us at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org and we will waive the cost.
