Project Name: Big Bar – Staff and Board
Project Dates: April 15-19
For this year's annual staff and board trip, we will be returning to Big Bar Dispersed Camping area on the Snake River south of Hells Canyon Dam. From here we'll work on the trails that head up into the Payette National Forest to the east. The Allison Creek, Echols Creek, and Kinney Creek Trails offer several loop options for a great day hike from Big Bar, and the Deep Creek Trail access high country from Eagle Bar, near Hells Canyon Dam. Used by climbers, hunters, and hikers, the thick brush and sections of hard-to-find trail make some sections difficult to navigate. You don't have to climb up far for some stunning views of Hells Canyon and the Snake River.
Extensive rebenching of the upper trails in the area planned for later in the spring shifts our focus to Kinney Creek and Deep Creek Trails, both a short drive from camp.
