Project Name:  Little Elk – Women in the Wild

Project Dates:  June 12-14

ITA's Women in the Wild trail projects are designed to create a supportive, empowering, and fun environment where women can learn new skills, build confidence, and connect with others who share a love for the outdoors. These all-female trail crews provide a unique space for volunteers to work together, gain hands-on experience in trail maintenance, and make a lasting impact on Idaho's public lands.

Join us for a Women in the Wild project at Magee Cabin in the Coeur d'Alene Ranger District, a serene, wooded area perfect for a weekend of outdoor stewardship. ITA volunteers will focus on clearing brush, fallen logs, and other trail obstacles to keep the nearby trails safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all. This women-only event creates a supportive and empowering atmosphere, allowing participants to work side by side while connecting with nature and fellow women trail stewards.

We'll enjoy the beauty of the forested surroundings, take in the peaceful cabin setting, and share camaraderie around trail work and the outdoors. This is a meaningful opportunity for women to get outside, give back to local trails, and make a lasting impact on the environment.

Project information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. Failure to respond to your crew leader may result in being dropped from the project. See our FAQs, reach out to your crew leader, or contact ITA staff at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org if you have questions.

Trails: Little Elk Trail #32

Itinerary: This is a three-day project. We will have a camp Thursday night at Magee Cabin, and we encourage you to join us to get to know each other before a weekend of working together. The crew leader will specify the meeting time in their pre-trip emails. We will begin Friday morning for a day of trail work, camping nearby. Finishing Sunday afternoon.

Gear Packing List:  Gear Checklist for Car Camping, Bring Your Own Food

Crew Leader: Barbara Sammut

Estimated Drive Time from Closest Town: 80 minutes from Pinehurst, Idaho

Refundable deposit: $25

Why do I need to pay a deposit? We've had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute, which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. By charging a refundable fee, volunteers are less likely to cancel their reservations. Refunds will not be given to volunteers that do not show up or cancel their reservation. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances. Volunteers can choose to donate the deposit to ITA. All donations are tax-deductible and will go towards maintaining trails throughout Idaho. If you require assistance in paying for this fee, please contact us at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org and we will waive the cost.
