Project Name: Upper Payette Lake – Family Weekend
Project Dates: August 8-9
Volunteers will gather at Upper Payette Lake outside of McCall for a day of weekend camping and trail work. We'll work up the Deep Creek Trail and Cougar Creek Trails, brushing and opening trail junctions. Starting at the lake, the trail climbs up toward the ridge. Deep Creek Trail goes all the way up to Granite Lake, connects to the Cougar Creek trail, and then hits a connector trail back down, making a loop.
We'll camp nearby along Upper Payette Lake, where this unique project invites families with younger kids to come camp together and have parents/guardians swap out for a day of trail work each!
We're partnering with the Selway Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation for this family weekend project, a first for both groups! Families with kids of all ages are welcome to join and camp with us, but trail work is still best suited for older kids. Please note that childcare is NOT available; all children will need to be supervised at all times.
Project information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. Failure to respond to your crew leader may result in being dropped from the project. See our FAQs, reach out to your crew leader, or contact ITA staff at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org if you have questions.

Why do I need to pay a deposit? We've had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute, which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. By charging a refundable fee, volunteers are less likely to cancel their reservations. Refunds will not be given to volunteers that do not show up or cancel their reservation. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances. Volunteers can choose to donate the deposit to ITA. All donations are tax-deductible and will go towards maintaining trails throughout Idaho. If you require assistance in paying for this fee, please contact us at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org and we will waive the cost.
