Join Idaho Trail Association and the Selway-Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation to learn about Wise’isskit, the Southern Nez Perce Trail (SNPT), the oldest extant trail in the US and a route used for thousands of years by the Nimiipuu people. The trail is part of an 15,000-year-old system through the heart of the Nimiipuu, or Nez Perce, homeland that stretches through north-central Idaho from the Wallowa Valley to the Bitterroot River. Ivar Nelson will lead an online trek on the trail discussing its historical and cultural significance.

Ivar is among the volunteers, many from McCall, who have been working to identify and clear the SNPT for the last eleven years. He is the former Director of the University of Idaho Press, currently a columnist for the Lewiston Morning Tribune and the co-author of Mining Town: The Photographic Record of T.N. Barnard and Nellie Stockbridge from the Coeur d’Alenes.
