Project Name: Whitecap Creek

Project Dates: July 10-12

ITA's Women in the Wild trail projects are designed to create a supportive, empowering, and fun environment where women can learn new skills, build confidence, and connect with others who share a love for the outdoors. These all-female trail crews provide a unique space for volunteers to work together, gain hands-on experience in trail maintenance, and make a lasting impact on Idaho's public lands.

We'll be car camping for the duration of this project at aptly named Paradise Campground. Over the weekend we will work up the Whitecap Creek Trail as it heads east of the campground into the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness. Our focus will be logging out with saws and crosscuts, working up as far as we can go!

Whitecap Creek Trail follows the creek through dense forest and climbs into the Bitterroot Mountains. Backcountry lakes, historic cabins and mining areas, abundant wildlife, and solitude bring hikers and backpackers here to explore.

Project information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. Failure to respond to your crew leader may result in being dropped from the project. See our FAQs, reach out to your crew leader, or contact ITA staff at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org if you have questions.

Trails: Whitecap Creek #24

Itinerary: This is a three-day project, meeting on Thursday evening and starting work Friday morning. Returning to car camp at the trailhead every night. Half a day of work on Sunday, to give the afternoon to drive home! If needed, we may have room for folks to arrive Friday evening to work Saturday/Sunday, please contact trails@idahotrailsassociation.org.

Refundable deposit: $25

Why do I need to pay a deposit? We've had trouble with people backing out of trips at the last minute which can really affect the productivity of the overall project. By charging a refundable fee, volunteers are less likely to cancel their reservation. Refunds will not be given to volunteers that do not show up or cancel their reservation. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances. Volunteers can choose to donate the deposit to ITA. All donations are tax-deductible and will go towards maintaining trails throughout Idaho. If you require assistance in paying for this fee, please contact us at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org and we will waive the cost.
