Trails need our help now more than ever!

Join us today to make a difference for Idaho's trails! ITA's Annual Membership Drive kicks off on Giving Tuesday, December 2, and goes through the end of the month. Idaho’s trails bring us together—connecting us to the land, to each other, and to something bigger than ourselves. With major cuts to federal funding for trail crews in 2026, the future of many trails is uncertain. But when our community unites, we have the power to keep these wild places open and thriving. By joining or renewing your ITA membership, you’re helping fill critical gaps in trail maintenance, supporting volunteer crews, and protecting public access across the state. Together, we can ensure Idaho’s trails remain places of adventure, solace, and connection for generations to come.

  • Unite for our Trails!

There’s something powerful about trails. No matter who you are, where you come from, or how far you plan to go, a trail invites you in. Step by step, it connects us—to the land, to ourselves, and to one another. In a world that can feel divided and overwhelming, Idaho’s trails remind us of what we all share: a love for wild places, open space, and the freedom to explore.

We believe trails are meant to be experienced by everyone—and protected by all of us together. That’s why we bring together thousands of volunteers, supporters, and partners each year to keep Idaho’s hiking trails open and safe.

But today, Idaho’s trails need us more than ever. Cuts to federal recreation budgets and staffing mean that many trail systems may go untouched for the season. Without community support, miles of trails could quickly become overgrown, blocked, or lost. ITA is stepping up—but we cannot do it alone.

Our Annual Membership Drive is your invitation to stand with us. When you join or renew your membership, you’re helping fund the tools, training, leadership, and year-round work that keep trails open. You’re empowering youth and women’s programs, supporting backcountry crews, and strengthening advocacy efforts that protect public access to Idaho’s wild places.

Most importantly, you’re choosing to be part of a community that believes in coming together when it matters most. Let’s unite for Idaho’s trails. Let’s keep them open, beautiful, and wild—today and for future generations.

Become a member and join the effort: together, we keep Idaho hiking.

What is ITA membership all about?

You can become an ITA member by donating $30 or more per year. Your donation will help fuel ITA's efforts across Idaho to maintain trails, bring communities together, and advocate for our shared wild spaces.

As an ITA member, you get the first chance to sign up for trail projects when our volunteer schedule is released in the spring.

Any donations over $100 will receive our 2026 calendar as a thank you.

We're offering a special prize drawing for anyone that inspires a gift by creating a personal campaign page (see Fundraise for This above) or gifting a membership: a Mystery Ranch Radix 47 or 57 Men's or Women's Backpack of your choice. Both you and the person you inspire will be entered to win!

We will also be drawing for some exciting pop-up prizes weekly for donating including lift tickets, hot spring passes and other unique Idaho experiences as a thank you for giving.

Every donation—large or small—brings us closer to protecting Idaho’s public lands and the memories they hold by helping us care for more miles of trail. Together, we can ensure these trails remain places of joy, connection, and inspiration for years to come.

Let’s make 2026 a year to remember for Idaho’s trails. Donate today and join us in this important mission.

    With heartfelt gratitude,

    The ITA Team

    • I am a retired senior living in Northern Idaho, and I recently had the pleasure of meeting and hiking with a remarkably active volunteer with ITA. His enthusiasm and unwavering commitment to keeping our trails ready for hikers are truly amazing. His hands-on dedication, reliability, and teamwork make him a standout advocate for outdoor recreation and trail stewardship. Because of him (Ken Dueis) I have decided to donate to the cause. Happy Trails! AND thank you to the all the work you do to keep our trails open. Cindy Eskelson
