Volunteer Trail Work Project

2024 Copper Creek – Trail Creek – Youth

Loading Events

Along the Rapid River Wild and Scenic River, ITA is hosting a weeklong youth (ages 14-18) project to work on the Copper Creek and Trail Creek Trails. These trails climb out of the Rapid River corridor up into the surrounding mountains. We will meet at the Rattlesnake Trailhead, with Heaven’s Gate Outfitters as pack support to help carry food and some personal gear into a Heaven’s Gate Outfitter camp. The site of one of our first youth projects, this is a great place to camp and with access to Rapid River just a short hike away after work.

The Rapid River Wild and Scenic River area has tons of great day hiking options, or backpacking trips along the river or up into the Seven Devils. ITA has been working for several years on trails in the Rapid River drainage, including along Frypan Creek and Black Lake Creek.

With guidance from crew leaders, volunteers will be involved in all aspects of camp life. This includes camp set up, water and sanitation, and ensuring tools are accounted for. Volunteers will learn and are expected to adhere to Leave No Trace best practices and project safety expectations set by crew leaders. ITA’s youth projects are completely free for volunteers to join, and all food is provided. Gear can be borrowed from ITA if needed. See our Youth Program page for more info.

Project information is subject to change. Crew leaders will communicate via email. Failure to respond to your crew leader may result in being dropped from the project. See our FAQs, reach out to your crew leader, or contact ITA staff at trails@idahotrailsassociation.org if you have questions.
