Project Name: Coeur D’Alene River – Youth

Project Dates: July 23-27

ITA’s Youth Trail Crew Program provides opportunities for youth ages 14-18 to learn about the outdoors while building and maintaining hiking trails in a safe, teamwork-oriented environment.

This is a five-day youth project in the beautiful upper North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River. Join us starting Wednesday afternoon if you can- we are planning on an early start Thursday morning so we can leave time each day to enjoy all the amenities available at camp. We’ll remove logs, cut back brush, and do some tread work on this is a gorgeous trail that follows the river and is designated a National Recreation Trail. We’ll return each afternoon to camp in a great spot that has lots of tent sites, a good swimming hole, and a pit toilet. This is a fully-supported trip and food will be supplied and prepared by ITA volunteers.

With guidance from crew leaders, volunteers will be involved in all aspects of camp life. This includes camp set up, water and sanitation, and ensuring tools are accounted for. Volunteers are expected to adhere to Leave No Trace best practices and project safety expectations set by crew leaders.

ITA’s youth projects are completely free for volunteers to join and all food is provided. Gear can be borrowed from ITA if needed with advanced notice, or youth may apply for scholarships to purchase gear they need through the Splattski Outdoor Access Fund. See our Youth Program page for more info.
