The Salmon-Challis National Forest, in partnership with the Selway Bitterroot-Frank Church Foundation and Idaho Trails Association will host a National Trails Day Event on June 6th, 2026 on the Langer Lake Trail Trail #4014 in Custer County outside of Stanley, ID. Work will include cutting trees blocking the trail, removing brush from the trail corridor and fixing issues with the trail surface. Advanced sign up is required to participate and sign up is limited to eight volunteers. Individuals interested in volunteering for this moderate intensity hike and work day can sign up by emailing Eric Giebelstein at eric.giebelstein2@usda.gov. Safety gear, tools, and instruction will be provided on site. Upon sign up, the participant will receive details of when and where to meet, volunteer documents to review, a packing list, and a list of attire to wear.
