Project Name: CLEM South

Dates: May 8-10

Join us for our 2026 CLEM – Crew Leader Education and Mentoring. The weekend will consist of classroom sessions and hands-on crosscut and trail work. Over two days of training, we’ll cover safety, leadership, and trail maintenance skills. Experienced and future crew leaders will review lessons learned on past projects and help plan for success on the 2026 projects.

Itinerary: Travel to camp Friday, Afternoon trail work and discussion for those who can come earlier today.  Early start Saturday and Sunday with lessons, discussion, crosscut certification, and trail work practice. Sunday morning, wrap up and head home Sunday afternoon.

Difficulty Rating

Hike: 2/5 Moderate – Short hikes for crosscut work, scrambling over down logs. Trails TBD

Project Work: 3/5 Moderately Strenuous – Using your brain! Waking up those crosscut and chopping muscles. You can expect a wide range of weather conditions in May; please pack accordingly.

Hike: 3/5 Moderately Strenuous- 4.7 miles into camp with 1,300 feet elevation change. See the linked map for the elevation profile of the hike in. Carrying day pack, and some trail tools.

Project Work: 3/5 Moderately Strenuous- Steep climb from camp to the ridge, but once there the trail follows the ridge with little elevation change. Deferred maintenance includes logging out, brushing, and drainage clearing. Volunteers can pick trail duties based on comfort and ability level and are encouraged to work at their own pace.
